Special Documentary Screening of “Forbidden Kyoto:
An Encounter with Green Tea”

September 2, 2011, at 8:00 p.m.
at Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts

An exclusive showing of a 45-minute documentary, Forbidden Kyoto:  An Encounter with Green Tea.  This documentary was filmed in Kyoto, Japan, the epicenter of Japanese culture and history, for the Japanese National Broadcasting Corporation.  It features Emerson Umbrella artist Richard Milgrim, who for the last 30 years has split his time between the U.S. and Japan.

This program was made to help people see that the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan this past March have not affected the Kyoto area and Western Japan. It hopes to encourage people to come to Japan and explore the richness and beauty of the country and its ancient, as well as contemporary, culture.

Free will donations are encouraged.  Seventy-five percent of all donations received will directly support the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts through the Japanese Disaster Relief Fund-Boston, in connection with the Japan Society Boston.
