Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 2 PM

The Art Complex Museum at Duxbury will present the second in its series of traditional Japanese Tea Ceremonies on Sunday, July 29, at 2 PM. This event has been planned as a Family Tea and will include a fish kite-making activity.

The presentation will be given by Tea Master Glenn Sorei Pereira who was trained by the Urasenke School of Tea.  He will explain the ceremony and answer questions.

The ceremony is presented in a tea hut designed by the Japanese artist Sano Gofu and built in Kyoto for the Weyerhaeuser family. Known as Wind in the Pines Hut, it is authentic except that two sides are left open for viewing. Surrounded by a Japanese garden, it is one of only a few such tea huts open to the public in New England.  Folding canvas chairs are provided or visitors are invited to bring their own.

Admission to the public tea ceremony is free but seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.  Guests are advised to dress with weather conditions in mind since this outside event is closely connected with nature.  Arrangements have been made to hold the event inside the museum in case of inclement weather.
