Hiroshi Ito’s life as a sculptor began when he found stones by a river in his neighborhood. As he studied these river stones, his curiosity about how to use them set his imagination to work. After he mastered the complex skills for cutting such hard material with precision and polishing the surfaces, he began to employ their natural forms and textures in curious objects that express a sense of humor and even trickery.

This second solo exhibition of Ito Hiroshi’s work at KEIKO Gallery, Pleasure of Paradox 2011, will include his popular Zipper Series, and the new works, Tight Knot and Before Liberation.
