The Rad Smith Program in Japanese Art

Harry and Mildred Remis Auditorium (Auditorium 161)

Lecture

Join us for an in-depth look into renowned Japanese photographer Ishiuchi Miyako’s career, from her images of Yokosuka (where she grew up) and her series on scars, aging and the passing of her mother, to her more recent work that focuses on images of clothing from the victims of Hiroshima, and her series on Frida Kahlo. The conversation will be facilitated by Anne Nishimura Morse, William and Helen Pounds Senior Curator of Japanese Art; and collaborator and film director Linda Hoagland, whose Things Left Behind focused on Ishiuchi’s “ひろしま/hiroshima” series.
