TOMODACHI Fukushima
Youth Sinfonietta Program

-Music from Fukushima in Boston -

Sunday, April 3, 8:00PM | Boston Symphony Hall

Over fifty young musicians who suffered all the problems and dangers of Fukushima following the natural disasters of March 11, 2011, will come to Boston and reveal how music has changed their lives. Their 2014 performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London was sold out.

PLEASE HELP BRING THIS BEAUTIFUL ORCHESTRA TO BOSTON!

Before reading further, please take a moment to view this brief video about the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta:

The power and resilience of young people never fail to inspire. When their hearts are uplifted by music, impossible dreams

suddenly become possible!

Born in the aftermath of the earthquakes, tsunami, and nuclear disasters that devastated northeastern Japan on March 11, 2011, the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta has helped the children of Fukushima find healing, confidence and strength through their engagement with music. This extraordinary young orchestra has also become a beacon of hope for a region devastated by loss, personal pain and suffering.

On the fifth anniversary of the disasters of 2011, the Japan Society of Boston is honored to be able to present the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta (FYS) in concert at Boston's Symphony Hall on the evening of Sunday, April 3. This event is a partnership with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and is supported by an anchor grant from the U.S.-Japan Council 's "TOMODACHI Initiative." The Society has organized a week-long visit by the FYS to Boston, where a a series of meetings and exchanges by the FYS with American schools and youth orchestras will culminate in the major performance at Symphony Hall on Sunday April 3, 2016 at 8 PM. Please circle that date on your calendars and join us for an extraordinary musical evening.

We ask you to contribute - as generously as you can - to help bring the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta to Boston

Unquestionably, the Boston visit by the FYS will be a major milestone in U.S.-Japan cultural relations. However, we still have a long way to go in raising the funds needed to make possible this unprecedented project. The families of the young musicians from Fukushima are contributing whatever they can toward travel expenses. But we need your help to make the trip as special as possible for these very deserving kids.

Please click this link that will direct you to opportunities for supporting the project to bring the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta to Boston.

Join hundreds of others in bringing this brave young orchestra from Fukushima to Boston. For as little as $100 you can help us to make this visit not only possible, but unforgettable! All donations, large and small, will be publicly recognized with your name(s) listed prominently in the concert program for the Symphony Hall performance on April 3rd and all donors will be mailed a copy of the Boston Symphony Hall Sinfonietta commemorative concert program book. All donations are tax-deductible.

Please forward this letter to your friends throughout the world.

Your Twitter, FaceBook, and other social media will carry this message everywhere!

With our heartfelt thanks and appreciations
