A longtime member and friend of the Council, Dennis Yasutomo will speak on recent developments in Japan's security policy, including the Shinzo Abe Cabinet's reinterpretation of the "Peace Constitution" in the context of heightened military, territorial, and economic tensions throughout the Asian region."

His specialized field of research is contemporary Japanese foreign policy, and he is the author of numerous books and articles on Japanese politics and diplomacy. His books include Japan's Civil-Military Diplomacy: The Banks of the Rubicon , The New Multilateralism in Japan's Foreign Policy, The Manner of Giving: Strategic Aid and Japanese Foreign Policy, and Japan and the Asian Development Bank.
